League position and verified status
Optibet Hokeja Līga (OHL) is the senior competition presented by the Latvian Hockey Federation. LHF has a 2026/27 season page, confirming the competition’s season status. Lithuania has no separate strong domestic league of its own, so Lithuanian clubs also compete in the OHL — see the hockey in Lithuania guide for that market’s specifics.
Confirmed 2026/27 framework
LHF confirms 9 teams in OHL for 2026/27. The season started on 5 September 2026. Each team plays 32 regular-season games; the top six advance to the playoffs and the top two enter at the semifinal stage.
Roster and foreign-player rules
No foreign-player number is stated here without the season regulation. Ask the club and LHF to confirm citizenship classification, match-sheet limits, registration and the exact rule version before relying on an offer.
Clubs and choosing a target
Use the current LHF competition page to identify participating clubs, then verify position, role, roster need and an authorised sporting contact. Do not treat an old season list as the current field.
What clubs assess
OHL clubs assess skating pace, decisions under pressure, role, special teams, verified statistics, full-game video, health, contract status, citizenship and registration readiness.
Recruitment timing and tryouts
A trial or invitation is not a contract. Confirm who invited the player, dates, evaluation criteria, travel, insurance, housing, equipment, expenses and the deadline for a written decision.
Contract, pay and housing
There is no official universal salary table for every OHL club. Put pay, tax treatment, dates, bonuses, housing, utilities, meals, travel, equipment, insurance, injury protection and termination in writing.
Residence and right to work
LHF registration or a club invitation does not grant entry, residence or work permission. Requirements depend on citizenship, contract and club country and must be verified with the competent authorities.
IIHF transfer, licence and insurance
An international move follows current IIHF transfer rules plus LHF registration and competition eligibility. Transfer approval does not replace insurance, immigration permission or a valid contract.
Player application package
Send passport and second citizenship; birth year, position, shot, height and weight; current team; verified statistics; Elite Prospects or federation profile; highlights, a recent full game and contract status.
