For 2026/27, a current league-wide average is not verified here for ICEHL, DEL2 or Hockeyettan. The table distinguishes primary documents, specific club examples and secondary reporting. A historical minimum or one player’s income cannot establish what another player will earn.

Primary source details and limits are explained below. Check the terms of an actual offer before using any figure in a budget.

What the sources actually establish

SHL: historical minimums and taxable income

SICO's current player page links collective agreements for SHL and HockeyAllsvenskan. The linked SHL PDF, updated 11 May 2020, records monthly rookie amounts of SEK 22,000 at age 18 to SEK 25,000 at age 21, effective from 1 May 2019. It also provides for annual adjustments. These are historical amounts, not a verified 2026/27 minimum.

The third-party site hockeyarena.se, updated 25 September 2026, reports an average of SEK 842,960 for 2025 taxable income, excluding players without recorded income. That is the site's calculation from a prior tax year, not an official current league salary average or take-home pay.

HockeyAllsvenskan: individual pay terms

Primary document. The HockeyAllsvenskan agreement linked by SICO, updated 6 May 2020, states in §4 that employer and player agree pay and other compensation. The document also contains joint negotiating material explicitly marked SHL-only: those SHL minimums must not be applied to HockeyAllsvenskan. This source does not verify a 2026/27 average. Hockeyettan: a club example, not a salary scale

Official league publication, 2026/27. In a Hockeyettan interview published 28 October 2026, Örnsköldsviks HF’s sporting director reports no fixed monthly player pay. He describes compensation for lost work income on weekday away trips. This establishes one club’s reported arrangement, not a zero salary for every Hockeyettan player. See the Hockeyettan guide.

Liiga

Yle's report of 21 January 2026 describes rising offers for specific players. It reports a net contract below €200,000 for Patrick Curry and an employer cost around €400,000 after taxes and charges. This illustrates why net pay and a club's total cost must not be compared as if they were the same salary. It is reporting, not a league-wide pay table.

ICEHL, DEL2 and AlpsHL: compare the written package

A current league-wide salary scale for these competitions was not established in this review. This does not prove that no applicable minimum or contractual rule exists. Ask for the currency, gross or net basis, payment period, housing, bonuses and injury or termination terms in writing. Do not annualise a monthly amount without knowing the paid months.

Czechia, Germany, Switzerland and other markets

A current official individual salary table is not established by the sources cited here. The same applies to Poland, Slovakia, Norway, Denmark and Hungary. External estimates do exist, including for Slovakia; their existence does not verify pay for a particular player. Specify the actual competition and club, then check the written terms. How to compare two club offers

EHA practical checklist. Compare the same paid period and only the guaranteed terms of a written offer.

1. Cash: currency, gross or net pay, paid months, payment dates, deductions and tax responsibility.
2. Housing: who pays rent, deposit and utilities; a private room or shared accommodation.
3. Other costs: food, transport, flights, equipment, insurance, registration and transfer.
4. Risks: injury pay, trial conditions, termination and return travel. Keep conditional bonuses separate.

Cash remaining over the paid period = guaranteed cash after tax − player-paid costs over that same period. Show club-paid housing as a separate benefit; do not add its value to cash in hand. Do not budget for outside employment until the right to do that work is confirmed.

Worked example: a higher monthly offer can leave less cash

Illustrative EHA example, not real offers or league salary estimates. Both offers are assumed to be in euros, net of tax, with eight paid months and all other player-paid costs equal. Only the housing expense differs.

Under these assumptions, A leaves €1,600 more after housing. This is not a full living-cost budget. Confirm utilities, deposits, insurance, food, travel and payment conditions before comparing actual offers.

Parents: a junior pathway has a different budget

Do not use a senior professional's salary as the budget for a junior placement. First establish whether the offer is a paid contract, expense support or a programme with family-paid fees. School, housing, meals, insurance and travel need their own written breakdown.

NHL, AHL and ECHL salaries: a separate comparison

The NHLPA FAQ lists the NHL minimum at US$850,000 for 2026/27. This is an NHL minimum, not a European salary benchmark. Older AHL and ECHL minimums previously quoted on this page have been removed to avoid presenting an expired season's figures as current. Use the applicable league agreement and season; a team payroll cap is not one player's wage.
